Authenticator: An authenticator is a tool or device used in the authentication process to verify a user's identity. It plays a critical role in Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) systems. Authenticators can be software-based, hardware-based, or physical tokens.
Passkeys: A modern, passwordless authentication method that uses public-key cryptography to enable secure and user-friendly login experiences. Passkeys eliminate the need for traditional passwords and rely on device-based security.
Biometric Identification: A security process that uses unique physical or behavioral characteristics of an individual to verify their identity.
Magic Link: A form of passwordless authentication where a user receives a unique, time-sensitive link (typically via email or SMS) that allows them to log in to an account or verify their identity. When the user clicks the link, it verifies their identity without the need for entering a password.
One-Time Password (OTP): A secure, temporary password that is valid for a single login session or transaction. It is designed to enhance security by ensuring that the code cannot be reused and is only valid for a short duration.
